Magdalena Dumitrescu (Magda, they/them) is an anthropologist, researcher, and artist. Their research focuses on the overlap of disability justice, environmental racism, and everyday impacts of the climate crisis. Dumitrescu’s art practice uses visual communication, multimedia art, and inclusive art programming to make their research accessible to more people. They are interested in using the quotidian magic and beauty of everyday life, using folkloric references from the Balkans and the American deep South to catch a glimpse of a living future. They are from Atlanta and now live and work in Chicago. Dumitrescu has a BA in Cultural Anthropology, Magna cum Laude, a BA in Studio Art, Drawing and Painting, Magna cum Laude, both from Georgia State University, and an MA in Museum and Exhibition Studies, Magna cum Laude, from the University of Illinois Chicago.
